India observes National Science Day on February 28 each year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect on February 28, 1928, by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman. In 1930, Sir C.V. Raman received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery.
St. Xavier’s Bangalore believes that the purpose of National Science Day is to raise awareness of the significance of science in everyday life, to showcase all scientific endeavours, efforts, and accomplishments for human welfare. Discussion of all issues and the implementation of new technologies to advance science are celebrated, to provide an opportunity to Indian citizens who are interested in science. to inspire people and spread the word about science and technology.
