Every year, World Hindi Day, also known as Vishwa Hindi Divas, is observed on January 10 to commemorate the first-ever World Hindi Conference that took place in Nagpur in 1975. Every three years, the World Hindi Conference is held to raise awareness of the leading scholars and contributors to the language. The significance of Hindi can be seen in the annual World Hindi Day celebration. St. Xavier’s Bangalore asserts that this day not only commemorates the incorporation of Hindi as an official language of the Indian federal government, but it also aims to foster a love of the language among the general public. Additionally, World Hindi Day aims to raise awareness of Hindi as a global and historical language.
